Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta says pollution in the capital is not new, it has been hurting people for many years, and it cannot disappear overnight even if government wants it to vanish in one day, because many sources make the air dirty like traffic, open burning and dust on roads, and this is why pollution becomes a big monster together, and she says her government is fully active and working daily, because clean air is possible only when work continues with more force every next day.

Did Past Governments Ignore The Air Crisis?

Rekha Gupta says earlier governments did not take strong actions when pollution was rising slowly every year, and that delay made the problem bigger like a burden that keeps coming back, and if governments long ago had done everything at the right time then today situation might not be so dangerous or frightening, and she said her team tried to fix old mistakes in just ten months, and that is not easy when population and vehicles are increasing at high speed, and she blamed earlier rulers for leaving a huge responsibility for her government, and she promised Delhi that they will not repeat those failures again.

Can Traffic Alone Make The Air So Dangerous?

The CM explained that Delhi is not a small town anymore, its population has grown many times, and the number of vehicles registered today is three times more than before, and every car and bus adds smoke into the air every single day, and traffic jams turn roads into smoke tunnels for lakhs of people, and this keeps increasing as the city grows bigger and busier, and she said reducing pollution needs support from everyone including drivers, industries and office goers too.

Is Open Burning Still A Major Silent Killer?

Gupta pointed out that open burning of waste or leaves gives huge smoke directly into the sky, and construction dust flies everywhere when roads and buildings grow, and farms outside Delhi also burn crops adding smoke to the city, and all these activities together darken the air like a blanket, and small changes every day can reduce these harmful habits, and she said strict rules are already working to stop such burning, and local agencies have been activated to act faster than ever before.

Can Magic Wand End Pollution Overnight?

She said people should not expect a miracle like waving a magic wand to clean the air suddenly, because pollution control is like climbing a big mountain step by step, and each day’s work becomes the foundation for next day’s stronger action, and government is pushing all departments to work without any delay, and results will show slowly when every step starts giving positive impact, and she asked citizens to understand that patience is also part of this fight, and she is confident that future winters will be better if everyone keeps working together.

What If A Lockdown Stops The City Again?

CM Rekha Gupta said lockdown is not a real solution because a city needs to run for survival, and stopping life cannot become a daily option, and industries shops offices schools hospitals all must function to keep people safe and earning, and shutting everything may reduce smoke for some time but creates other big problems, and she wants solutions that keep Delhi moving and improve the air at the same time, and she said planning must balance life and environment, and that is why cooperation of all citizens is extremely important.

Will Delhi Finally Breathe Clean Air Soon?

Rekha Gupta promised that her government has taken every step needed in the last ten months, and she said agencies are more active stronger and stricter now, and every complaint gets attention faster than before, and she believes when government works with full power citizens must also join hands, and she assured people that this fight is tough but not impossible, and she said legacy problems can end if new generations act with more responsibility, and she wants Delhi to believe that clean air is the right future of the capital.
